Manual Therapy Explained in Vernon BC

Myofascial Release Technique: A very gentle therapy performed by the hands to help release tight muscle knots and fascia, a connective tissue that runs through and around muscles that can become restricted and painful. This treatment helps reduce connective tissue tightness, improving the pain and stiffness you can feel. If you notice that your issue goes away, then comes back, or never really fully settles down, it may have some component of myofascial tightness.

Joint Mobilizations: In order to help overcome joint restrictions, gliding motions are used to gently push through the restrictive barriers within joints. Maybe its scar tissue holding it back, or degenerative changes that have accumulated, or perhaps the joint is out of alignment and needs to be carefully pushed back into place. Joint mobilizations can help to realign stuck joints.

Nerve Mobilizations: Sometimes nerves can get stuck from gliding correctly through the tissues of your body. If passages to nerves have become narrowed, or scar tissue is gluing the nerve tissue from moving correctly, neural mobilizations, also known as nerve flossing, can help nerves glide freely again. These nerve entrapments can cause nerve pain, pain that refers to another area of your body, or local pain and tenderness. Returning the normal glide can help reduce these symptoms.

Exercise And Stretching: Our Physiotherapist loves to outline exercise and stretching rehab strategies that have stood the test of time and work well, empowering you to be able to enhance your treatment by teaching you what to do (and not to do!) at home, and what to focus on in your lifestyle to help avoid the things that may be causing your issue. Strengthening your body's muscle and support system can mean preventing more future injuries or simply enhance your body's performance so you can do the things you want to do! Exercise programs are custom made to your needs.
